Fishing with my friend & fishing guide, Vincent

JORGE IS THE MAN TO SEE IF YOU WANT TO FISH SAYULITA!!

I was lucky enough to meet Jorge on the beach after just arriving to Sayulita and right away i could tell how passionate he was about fishing and i knew he was that exact guide i was looking for... He took me to remote beaches and places i would've never found myself and just like he said the fish were there! Weather your a spin fisherman or a flyrodder he can accomodate your needs and take where the fish are. Being a full time guide myself i know what it takes and let me tell you he's got it! I'm looking forward to hooking up with him again on my next trip to Sayulita...

  1. In mid Dec 2014 I was looking to head south from the cold winter for a Feb 2015 R/R trip and Mexico seemed like a great option. A few items set the criteria.... warm, on the ocean, fishing- lots of it from the surf, a kayak and a boat, all with an experienced bi-lingual fishing guide who would not break the bank... I Googled my needs and shortly a web page pulled up with Sayulita Kayak and Surf Fishing. I had never heard of Sayulita but within a few days I had a response back and communicated my needs- fishing first, housing next. Over the next 2 weeks I researched the Sayulita lifestyle/community and committed to jump on board asap and get it nailed down.

As with any arms length venture when not having locals or others to really get the lay of the land there will be regrettable "possibly do-overs" ---the same with living accommodations in Sayulita... BUT one thing there is no option to change and this is with fishing and fishing only with Jorge... Jorge made all the difference- in helping with the best options for accommodations on short notice to the unbelievable fantastic fishing experience. I use salty guides several times a year in a variety of locations over the US- east/west coasts, Gulf and Caribbean, I also help guide part time, I say this honestly... Jorge the Popperman is at the top of the complete package. A local- lifetimer, a marine biologist in training, an accomplished chef and most important a seriously easily to get along with gifted fisherman. The "mookey" is on Jorge as we say... he's got the right stuff from knowledge- to discipline -to personality- to dedication- to great gear,,, especially his tremendous assortment of professional grade- high quality lures... which nail the fish,,, I did check ahead and brought several lures from the US which he likes, all which we used..... they whammed the fish also...

I fished Jorge 6 times over 10 days- 4 from the kayaks and 2 from the run-about panga's.... fish, fish, fish each time... Mahi, Bo-Bo tunies, mega Car Jacks's, great Spanish Mack's, monster Roosters, snappers and grouper- on one trip I hit the Sayulita Grandslam - Mahi- Spanish and Rooster ... only thing we missed was snook and sails.,, always a great goal for next trip.. Hey though.. be advised it is always fishing 1st and then catching so as with any trip plan on "fishing", the experience is getting involved. You can easily get hooked and towed around by a buffalo torro for 30-50mns upon hitting deep blue water which is within 30 minutes of the beach. Or you can go for gold and do the workout as we often did and pushed the kayaks several miles in a day. Either way Jorge has you always on spot and helping. He is great for 1st timers never being in a kayak or even surf fishing, he knows the in/outs of the panga crews if you want to boat it a trip or two, he is an avid fly fisherman and ties/sells his own secret killer bugs,,,,... watch out on the long cast with on of those on when the Bo-Bo's are smashing bait... the reels hummmm...

A tip for the "reel committed ones".... get there early at least an hour,go out to help catch the bait and stay the extra time and help load up... Jorge is great at what he does.... don't you always help a buddy when fishing back home?? ,,, treat Jorge and the panga crews the same way... it will last a lifetime and the experience will be positively better than you ask for... look to see ya all there soon!!!!
